HINDMAN, Ky. (WYMT) - After spending the past four years playing together, Kent Damron and Josh McGuire will continue that relationship at the college level. Both players signed with Alice Lloyd men’s basketball on Tuesday, with Damron also signing to play baseball with the Eagles.

”I wanna thank God for just letting me play both basketball and baseball at the college level. Alice Lloyd’s a special place to me and my family, and I’m just blessed to be able to play there,” Damron said.

”I thank God for allowing me to play the sport that I love. It’s taken me to some amazing places. I’ve met some amazing people. I’d like to thank my family and friends, all you guys for always supporting me throughout all the years,” McGuire added. “I’d like to thank my coaches and all my family for always pushing me to be the best I can be.”

Both Damron and McGuire were instrumental in Knott Central’s run to Rupp Arena this season. McGuire was second on the team with 13.9 points per game while pulling down a team-high 9.5 rebounds per game. Damron was third in scoring with 10.4 points per game while running the point for the Patriots.

In their careers, the duo helped Knott Central to two 53rd District titles, three 14th Region All ‘A’ crowns and the 14th Region championship their senior years.

On the diamond, Damron and the Patriots have already taken home one trophy in the 14th Region All ‘A’ title. The last time Damron was on the diamond for a full season in 2019, he hit .329 with 14 RBIs for the Patriots. On the mound, Damron had a 2.42 ERA in 52 innings with a 7-1 record.
