MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A McCreary County woman is dead following a crash that left US-27 closed for much of the day on Monday

Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London responded to a call about a crash just after 8:50 Monday morning near the US-27 intersection with Louie Tucker Road.

Upon investigation, KSP troopers found that 32-year-old Tiffany J. Renfro of Parkers Lake was driving north of US-27 when she crossed the center line and hit a tractor trailer driven by 48-year-old Kenneth W. Bray of Somerset.

Renfro was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCreary County Coroner’s Office, Bray was not injured. It is not known whether drugs or alcohol factored into the crash, although Renfro was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. Traffic had to be re-routed to allow a reconstructionist to process the scene.

Original Story:

The Somerset-Pulaski County Special Response Team says it was assisting McCreary County Emergency Management Monday following a deadly crash on US-27.

They say a fuel leak led to the road being closed much of Monday while crews worked to clear the scene. The road has since reopened.

The name of the person killed in the crash has not been released at this time.
