FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - Governor Andy Beshear held a Team Kentucky update on Thursday.

He began by saying all the economic developments and growth the state is experiencing are helping the state prepare for the future.

The Governor then said the recent Ford deal has helped put Kentucky in a great place in world economics. He added that it was just the beginning for the state’s growth.

Beshear then announced a partnership with Nemak. The company will be bringing a location to Glasgow, Kentucky that will create many full-time jobs in the state. The investment will bring a $27 million investment into the state.

“These are the moments we are going to look back on in 30 years,” said the Governor about the economic growth the state has seen in the past year.

He added he was able to meet with the Japanese Ambassador to the United States to talk about the company’s investments in Kentucky. Japan is responsible for a large amount of Kentucky’s jobs, many of which come from the Toyota plant in Georgetown.

Then, Beshear talked about the $14 million he gave to schools in Magoffin and Johnson counties. These funds will be used to update and improve career and technical centers in the area.

He also said the state will be able to give $1 million to Floyd County to help the area recover from the flooding that took place earlier this year.

After talking about the economy, Governor Beshear shared a COVID-19 update. We will have that information on our website when it becomes available.
